Selected Frequencies is a UK podcast production studio run by James Pearce (“we”, “us”). This page explains what information we collect, why, and what you can ask us to do with it. Questions go to james@selectedfrequencies.com.

Enquiries

When you use a contact or enquiry form, we receive what you type in (such as your name, email address, company and message) by email. We use it only to reply to you and, if we work together, to run that project. We don't add you to mailing lists or pass your details to anyone else.

Analytics

We may measure visits with Plausible Analytics, which doesn't use cookies and only reports aggregated figures (pages viewed, referrers, country, device type). It doesn't identify you. The site is hosted on Vercel, which keeps standard server logs to run and secure the service.

Free tools

Our calculators, checklists and diagnostics run in your browser. Some remember your progress in your browser's local storage; that stays on your device and is never sent to us.

The podcast feed checker fetches the public RSS feed you enter and keeps the results page for a few hours so you can share it.

The show notes generator uploads your audio to temporary storage (Vercel Blob), transcribes it with Groq and writes the notes with Anthropic's Claude. The audio file is deleted once processing finishes (and expires automatically if that fails). To limit each email address to one free episode and prevent abuse, we keep a one-way hash of your email address, your IP address, the transcript and the generated notes in our database (Supabase).

Pit Window Scheduler and Google user data

Pit Window Scheduler is an internal tool that only we use, to plan, publish and report on YouTube channels that we own and run. It is not offered to the public. When we connect one of our channels, it asks Google for access through the YouTube Data API and the YouTube Analytics API (youtube.readonly, yt-analytics.readonly and youtube.force-ssl).

It reads our channel and video details (titles, publish dates, durations, privacy status) and their statistics and analytics (views, likes, comments, watch time, average percentage viewed, subscribers gained, traffic sources). The only thing it writes is a comment that we wrote ourselves, posted as our channel on our own newly published videos (the “first comment”). It doesn't upload, edit or delete videos, and it doesn't comment on anyone else's videos. This data is used only to show our own performance reports and to help us plan our content. It is stored only on our own computer, is never sold, shared or transferred to anyone, and is never used for advertising. Access can be removed at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions, and the stored data is deleted when the channel is disconnected.

Pit Window Scheduler's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. It uses YouTube API Services: see the YouTube Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Email james@selectedfrequencies.comand we'll reply within a month. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes

If we change how we handle information, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
